Sarah is a fiber artist based in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
What is art? Is it painting and drawing, or can it be anything?
Sarah Rusk graduated LCCC a million years ago and has since done other online learning programs, some art related, some not. Blah blah blah, but Sarah has always struggled with the idea of “what is art?” She never felt good at painting and drawing, but discovered a passion for creating with textiles.
Sarah taught herself to crochet roughly 14 years ago so she could crochet with her soon to be Grandmother- in-law. Sarah discovered that keeping her hands busy was a great way to keep her mind calm. She soon became passionate about the craft. Fast forward to pre-pandemic days. Through many trials and errors, Sarah learned to knit. The gentle encouragement and support of her friends drove her on and now she enjoys making cozy hats and sweaters for anyone interested. Embroidery seemed like the next logical experiment. Instead of traditional painting, she wanted to paint with thread and make her art wearable.
